FNJ announces protest programme against attack on journalist

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has announced various protest programmes against the attack on Nagarik journalist in Biratnagar few days ago.

A meeting of FNJ central executive committee in Kathmandu on Saturday decided to instruct its members to work with black arm bands from June 12-14, demonstrate by ‘throwing’ reporting materials – cameras, recorders, pens and notebooks – on the road in Maitighar Mandala and organise an interaction of senior journalists in Kathmandu on June 15.

The meeting also concluded that Parsuram Basnet, the person accused in the attack of Nagarik journalist Khilnath Dhakal, is one of the most notorious gangsters of the eastern region.

The FNJ central committee arrived to such conclusion based on the report of a probe panel formed to investigate the attack on Dhakal. The probe panel had submitted a report to FNJ central committee mentioning Dhakal was attacked by gangsters at Basnet’s directives
